Averyl Dufour. Living Room. September 24th , 2017.
Add an elaborate trim to a cushion cover, for a super-modern finish in the living room, go for a bright trim on a neutral cushion – neon on grey, navy or black, say. Remove the pad and pin your chosen braiding around the edge of the top face, folding neat 45° angles at the corners, then hand stitch.
Colours seen in nature, such as sky blue and restful leaf green have a calming effect on us, while red is a stimulating shade and yellow is uplifting (sunshine yellow… need we say more?). The key to decorating with one colour on walls and furniture is to use different shades of the same colour together, such as a soft apple green sofa alongside emerald metal side tables. It?s also a good idea to mix textures, for example combining matt paint on walls with a sleek, glossy lamp base. Try and work your colour scheme into all areas of your living room – such as your bay windows.
Work with original features, give architectural features a modern update with a fresh coat of paint and light retouching. Here original features have been painted to give this living room a modern edge. The black fireplace remains the focal point, and adds a sense of cosiness along with the chunky sofa and rustic wooden coffee table. A wool rug brings texture to the scheme and enhances the inviting feel of the room.
