Re-cover a headboard, Revamp an old headboard with a fun, photo-motif fabric. Choose a modern design unusual enough to take pride of place in a minimal bedroom. Because you’re only covering a headboard, the outlay for fabric shouldn’t be big. Paint walls white to let the fabric print stand out and lift the look with a touch of lime using two citrus cushions and curtains. Dress the bed with plain linen to continue the white scheme.
Take in elements of nature, the combination of skylights – on both sides of a pitched ceiling – and floor-to-ceiling wood panelled cupboards gives this attic bedroom the feel of a grown-up treehouse! Failing that, the open space with its glass stair panels and natural materials (chunky wool as well as the bleached wood) has a really tranquil Scandi finish. A place to daydream up in the clouds.
Love the idea of country-cottage chic, but want something a bit less full-on? Then neutrals could be for you. In a scheme like this, it’s all about adding interest with textures, from embroidered cushions to waffley throws. This pretty bedroom is also lucky enough to benefit from structural focal points such as the sloped ceiling and beams, which lend it lots of character.
